The Forgotten Ruins

A Jungle Adventure

Watch out for that vine and 3D rendered rock, we wouldn’t want any explorers getting hurt on this tour of The Forgotten Ruins! With a 2 month deadline and detailed project requirements, the following ideas, mood boards, blockmesh and asset integration were built and designed by myself. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and stay seated while you parkour through this level.

 

A Breakdown

 

The Requirements

For this project, the size requirement was limited to five areas. The breakdown of this being two transition areas and three main points of the level. Each main point (Level Start, Focal Point, Level End) also had to be seen from a certain camera angle when the player approaches it.

 
 

MOOD BOARDS

These mood boards were created in the beginning stages to ensure a smooth transition and be utilized as a tool when in the block mesh stage. Because the project was inspired by exploration and parkour, The Forgotten Ruins level was created!

 

BLOCKMESH STAGE

Welcome to the block mesh stage, this is where using the previously made mood boards comes into play. In the following, you will see the use of custom-made meshes and materials to help express the basic level idea!

A FINAL LOOK

After playtesting, presenting, and getting feedback, it was time to move on to the Asset Integration Stage. In this stage, I added lighting, sound effects, meshes, and finalized the level’s creation.
